Get On Board!

Good Morning Stampers!

My downline Bev asked me to "demo" our On Board Accents (chipboard) at her retreat on Saturday and I was really excited to see all that I could do with this great new product.  I started off slowly and then just couldn't stop!  A great resource for ideas is an article in a great online magazine called Scrapbook & Cards (it's also available in hard copy from stamping/scrapbooking stores in Canada).  You can access the article by going to www.scrapbookandcards.com and then click on "magazine>previous isses>summer 2006" - the article is called "The Many Faces of Chipboard" and has some excellent ideas.  Check it out!

You can stamp on it, embellish it, wrap it with ribbon, cover it with mesh and designer papers...the question is "what CAN'T you do with this stuff?".

I got a little carried away - here's some of my samples...click on them for a larger view!

This layout was inspired by a tutorial from SCS.  The "b" was done with craft ink and then highlighted with our amazing White Gel Pen.  The "o" was done by wrapping it with our new ribbon and the "y" was inked up with Close to Cocoa craft ink and then distressed with "Chocolate Chip" (remember my rule...if you can't eat chocolate each day at least put it in your projects!).  Then I embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it a shine, added some brads and a clip and it's done! 

I used the "faux metal" technique on this tag and used the "All I Have Seen" and "Happy Everything"

This was done by applying a photograph to a piece of chipboard with our glue stick and then cutting it close to the edge with a hobby knife.  Then I used our sanding block (you can cut it into 4 long stripes to get in the little nooks and crannies) to give the edges a distressed look and to get closer to the edge.  "G" is for "garden" will be my page theme.

This piece has been covered with our Holiday Thyme Designer Paper (so fabulous!) and then trimed and sanded.  I then threaded a piece of the Stitched Gros Grain ribbon through a hole to make a decoration for the tree.

This little heart was inked up with Real Red craft ink and then I mixed Romantic Red Glitter with Clear Embossing Powder to give it the "glittery" effect.  Then I threaded a clear button with our Red Gingham ribbon and tied it on the edge.

The "r" was inked in craft ink and then embellished with a punches flower - I added some microbeads to the center of the flower.  The "s" was inked and clear embossed and then microbeads was added with sticky strip.  The "l" was inked with craft ink and then stamped using Craft White with a little flower - so simple and cute!  I'll be teaching a class on these techniques on November 2nd - email me for details!

Alison, I absolutely LOVE all your Chipboard samples! My chipboard hasn't even been touched yet - now I'm excited to play and then share the results with my customers! Thanks for the inspiration! Thanks also for all the AWESOME Holiday Mini samples - they are SO original!
