Hello Stampers,
When Liane was over I made her this Pop Out Card (wait until you see what she made me....in a future blog post) using the Nature's Walk stamp set. I used to make these cards all the time (years ago) and I was recently cleaning out my office and came across my "old" cards with this technique. I immediately thought of this set to use with the technique.
The outside of this card is a partial CASE from a beautiful card I saw on one of the boards at Leadership.
I love the bird to this set even though it's too big in scale for the bird cage which kinda bugs me..oh well...the little bird from the Bliss set is a perfect match for the cage so I'm happy again.
I tend to use Glossy Cardstock for these cards - not sure why - I like how the inks take to the glossy better and it's really easy to colour with the blender pen and dauber because the ink just flows across the paper.
Stamp all your images first, colour, distress, etc and then cut out sections to "pop" or "recess" on the card. Don't have too many images popping out or it looks too busy. I also used the faux tearing technique in the corners to make the paper look old and layered.
Hopefully you can see the faux tearing and the "pop outs" better in this view.
Stamps: Nature's Walk, Charming
Cardstock/Ink: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Staz On Black
Other: Color Spritzer Tool, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Framed Tulip Embossing Folder, Antique Brads, Daubers, Blender Pen
On Liane's version I wrapped the ribbon around the card and affixed it under the front panel and added another panel to the back of the card. That way the ribbon could be tied at the open edge to keep the card from popping open.
I'll be offering this card in a future class so stay tuned for details. Sign up for my newsletter in the link on the sidebar to receive my class updates.
Happy Stamping,
Alison
I love this card Alison! Count me in on a class when you do one!
